Need help EQ'ing my SVT 3 Pro

I'm running it through an Ampeg 810e. I've been trying to EQ it myself for the last hour, but everything sounds pretty awful.

I'd like a tone that would sound good with this type of music


Any suggestions?

when i had mine, i generally just left it flat because it sounded pretty good to me. but it's been quite a while since i had it so i wouldn't know what to tell you to cop that tone. sounds to me like there's distortion going on with it, too, so maybe crank the gain really hot.

You have to crank the gain (tube gain) on those amps to get decent response and output. I typically had the bass up slightly left the rest of the knobs at noonish. I did use the EQ with a TINY bit of California Smile going on.

Thanks to those who have responded, but it still sounds like doodoo to say the least haha. Any other suggestions?

What you hear solo versus how you'll sound in the mix are totally different. And who knows what they did in the studio...

honestly, i never blame the amp if i can't get a good sound out of it, even if it's something i don't like. also, read up on the difference between "bedroom tone" and "band tone." sometimes the sounds that aren't as pretty end up being just what you need in a mix.

but the main thing to remember is that you are not the player on that recording, and 95% of a player's tone is how he/she plays. find your own sound.
