Need help finding good overdirve and chorus pedals

Im looking at getting a few pedals i have a syb-5 synth which is somthing i just play about with but i would like to find a good overdrive pedal and chorus pedal.

The only real make iv looked at are the Boss pedals can people just give me some names of some good overdrive and chorus pedals? ( and sound clips will be appreciated)

For overdrive, there are a million good choices. Fewer for chorus. IME best bass pedals out there (other than small batch, boutique stuff at even higher prices) are EBS. Be aware that many "bass" pedals will rob your low freq, but not EBS. They are also dead quiet when not in use, have "true" bypass and are solid (but expensive). I haven't heard a cheap (<150) bass chorus pedal that works well without adding hiss. For distortion, the EBS multidrive is 199. Cheaper but good oprions include MXR Blowtorch (esp if you want over-the-top, chainsaw buzz). Another option if you want just a little hair on the top is MXR M-80, which will also give you a respectable DI and eq capability for 140.

Well for overdrive my absolute favorite is the Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive this pedal has a tighter midrange, crisper high and much better note definition to my ears than just about any other overdrive pedal out there. it also sports a clean signal boost which allows you to restore the attack and feel usually lost in the highly compressed overdrive circut, its like layering two amps one clean and one saturated. It's so impressive that Digitech has created a simulation of it for their BP series of multi effects processors for Bass. I can't say enough about this product, add in the fact thats its true bypass, made in the USA, aluminum housing and 5 year warranty i can't think of many better ways to spend $130.00. It sounds fantastic on bass...not to mention close to 20 decibels of clean boost and it's really two pedals in one. BUY IT!!!!!!

I'm not on their payroll....lol

but seriously I tried roughly 30 pedals befores settling on this one....there is a thread and a review somewhere on this forum

These are all commercially available, but there are some really nice boutique pedals out there as well...

Played these pedals recently and really liked them...they are all analog which i seem to like better than digital but that is a personal taste....you really just need to play a bunch of them a pick the one that works for you

Searching will get you a lot of hits on here, but the two that I personally own are the Homebrew Electronics Hematoma (overdrive), and the Analogman Stereo Bi-Chorus. That's what works for me but, as always, YMMV. I'd suggest also checking out the Talkbass Wiki. It's the link at the top of the page between reviews (check those out too!) and the store. There's an effects soundclip databass (pun intended!) in there.
