hey i own a gibson thunderbird.. which i really love.. but its just so hard to get your hand above around the 15th fret, which is the main reason why i want a new bass.
i love the thin neck, very similar to a fender jazz bass.. if the fender deluxe jazz bass had 22 frets i think it would be perfect, i love the massive tonal versitility of the deluxe j
i have played spector basses, which i never would of conciderd in the past but have warmed to me alot, i think the feel of the spectors, with their small body and there long very easily accessible 24 fret necks are fantastic... though i hate EMG pickups
i'm trying to find a bass that:
-has great tonal versitiliy
-preferebly a thin neck.. which must be easily accessible to the higher frets (24 frets ideally)
-always wanted a good slap bass (but not essential)
-passive pickups unless like the fender j or p deluxe basses there is a active/passive switch so it doesn't only rely on a battery
-no stupid shapes or stupid pictures 'cough' bc rich...
i gig lots, through an apeg svt3 pro head with ampeg 4x10hlf cab, most genres from quiet mellow to heavy rock.. not too much metal anymore though...
i would pay $1000 - $2500 but above that is getting pretty steep
thankyou! any help would be greatly appreciated
