Need help identifying bass.

I have aquired an old (60's era) jazz bass but the odd thing about it is it only has ONE jazz pickup as opposed to the normal two, and the maple neck is one solid piece of wood. I will post pictures of it later tonight but thought I would get the ball rolling and see if anyone had any thoughts.

The best thing I can dig up thus far is its a "Economy" style bass that was built potentially during a war and given to soldiers as entertainment...

Almost sounds like an old P from what you're describing. See if you can get us those pics!

Yes I will get those pics up as soon as I get home (at work). It is definately a Jazz bass. It has the standard Jazz pickup and a white jazz pickguard and plate for the knob controls.
