need help identifying my spector.

Keep in mind that this guitar is at least 10 years old.

It was owned by an old friend of mine that turned to drugs and ended up pawning it to a shop for some cash. when i found out i went there and rescued it for 200 bucks.

I was just wondering what kind it is, and im having a rather hard time.

It has EMG-HZ passive pickups. But it also has a 9v battery in the back. Whats that for if the pickups are passive?

That's a now dicontinued model (from Korea i think). I can't remember the model but they're nice.

The battery is there because the controls are active (bass & treble boost/cut) even if the pups are passive.

Nice bass i almost bought one of those.

yes it is from korea as it says so on the back of the headstock. so a discontinued ns2000. sweet!

if anyone had to suggest some newer pickups, what you think i should go with?

I would use active EMG's to make it sound closer to one of the more expensive models, 35 p/j i guess.

well with my current setup, an ashdown abm 500 through a GK GLX 4x10, it sounds pretty good. however im looking for brighter mids and highs and i feel like the hz's are keeping em kinda flat.

i like to play a pretty wide range from rock to funk/slap. i love to slap and pop, so i feel like some different, more versatile pickups would help.

and ya $200 for my bass is a steal. im 24 years old right now, and when i first saw that particular bass, i must have been 16 or so. i remember seeing it with my buddies dads friend (the guy who eventually sold it so he could buy drugs). he let me play on it for a bit, and i never wanted to put it down. love at first sight ahhh...
when i heard he hawked it at a pawn shop 3 years ago, the thought of never seeing it again was too much to bare, so i went on a little rescue mission, and alas, its mine!!!

anyway what you think the resale on that thing is today? (though i would never sell it for its sentimental value)
