need help matching cabs

It's ok to run it at lower impedances. Others have reported going hard at 2.7ohm no problem.

lol that's what i got, a really loud 4 ohm cab, after posting this thread we had an outside sound gig, in which i played the first set using my amp, the next band came up with a markbass 12 combo and 18" hartke extension speaker......we were scrambling to get him in the mix, the band after them used my cabinet.....That's when i realized......ta hell with totin' an extension cabinet....this f'r sounds sweet! it was 5 times as loud as the previous bassist and on half the power setting!

ok here goes,, y'all dont kill me, i did buy this used and I have all the markings off the cabinet... I know his history,,,but this thing is a beast
its the drb2460 4ohm 1000w model

a series cable/box will get you 8 ohms from two, 4-ohm cabinets.

as okcrum suggested: another amp slaved to your existing amp solves the problem, gives you a backup amp, and allows for all kinds of 'rig shaping' in the future. plus: it takes the impedance issue off the table in most cases.

many 15" drivers will be fine with a 2-12 (check specs/power ratings!). the idea that you can't pair a 15 with a 2-12, effectively, is false. it just depends on your choices!

Basically your running 2x 4 ohm cabs.

Total load is 2 ohms

As long as your amp can handle 2 ohm load and not shut down or overheat or crakle like a turd. your good

Even amps that are " designed" to handle 2 ohms. Dont mean that its a cake walk for them.

2 ohm load is a pain in the butt either way for a amp and will make alot of heat and stress the power supply.

lets say 8ohms and 4 ohms is a fairly healthy diet.

2 ohms is like a constant diet of pizza and chocolate cake. you can do that. just dont expect to live very long
