Which pickguard, White Parchment or Tortoise Shell? (see photo)

I'd go mint green on this combo, or creamy white. Pure white is usually kind of bland and cheap looking to me.

For a great tort, I'd say you'd have to go Spitfire or vintage tort and that's pretty darn expensive. Spitfire ruined most other tort for me lol.

Another vote for black. White, parchment, mint - they all look the same under stage lights. Black helps frame the wood, and makes it pop. White (or mint, or parchment, or even white pearloid) just grabs your visual attention away from the wood - which is a bad thing in this case. The tort would be better than any of those, but black is the ticket.

I actually disagree with this, not all stage lights involve colored front lighting or are too dark to tell. The shot below was taken with a parchment guard - I just went looking and unfortunately I don't have any similar shots since I switched to mint, but whiter guards can flare up more under bright lights.

I disagree with this as well - at least on it being a bad thing. Yes, it does draw the eye away from the wood, but I'd rather have a bright contrasting feature drawing eyes to where my hands are. Off-white pickguard and maple fretboard FTW. ;)

Well with me it actually would be 3 ply black...always with a maple neck.
But since that isnt an option...
It is tough because I personally dont like Tort.
White is a keep it safe bet.
So after saying this I say
3 ply BLACK....

lol

A lot of love for the black pickguard here. I have to say, I am not a fan. I appreciate all the feedback. Thanks all for your opinions. Tortoise shell is winning, but this has got me thinking of getting a gold anodized pickguard and going for the classic '58 P Bass look.
