Hi all was looking for a little help with a guitar I decided to take a chance on from Guitar Center. It appears to be a 2011 Sadowsky Metro made in Japan, but I am unsure of the model. It looks mostly like a JT/J but I have never seen a JT/J with a pickguard and the examples of JT/J's online all say Sadowsky - Tokyo. (my understanding is the headstock on mine indicates it was for US).. Also in shipping on of the tuner pegs broke. (no other damage, ithe tuner isn't even bent) Anyone know if it is possible to get a replacement tuner or what size tuner would fit this model.. Thanks.in advance !!

Not sure what exactly is happening here but I don't think that's a genuine Sadowsky.... Metro or otherwise. The neck might be genuine? Looks like some sort of a parts bass (modded to look like a Sadowsky 'standard') with a Sadowsky neck? Or it could be the pickguard throwing things off? Your best bet is to call or email the shop in NYC and see if they can offer some insight. With a serial number on the headstock, they might at least be able to tell you if the neck is genuine? They could also sell you new tuners for it.

Perhaps Sadowsky standard ( no pick guard) with added off brand guard?
Looks like a Japanes Sadowsky standard with a pickguard installed. (I did this to one of mine.) Also, that preamp is the German Sadowsky version....the Japanese one has been removed. I can't tell about the pickups. Are they single coil or hum canceling? If they're single coil, they might be the Nordy made for Sadowsky version.

That could be the thing that's throwing it off visually, for me at least.
I agree with JazznFunk, this does not look right. The four knobs are way too far apart, never seen any Sadowsky like that (I own 2 Japan metros). Neck looks like the real deal, assessing preamp and electronic innards is way above my pay grade.
Neck seems to be a legit 2011, the bridge is standard with MIJs, but the rest is highly suspect. Everything about that body, inside and out, looks odd to me. Parts bass..
This says it is a 92 Sadowsky NYC. Looks like the same body to me.
This might answer another question, I have. It has a series parallel switch that is currently only working in parallel. If the german preamp was put in or pickups replaced, it makes sense of why it doesn't work.
According to the serial number on the neck, it appears to be a custom NYC built in 2007. the N indicates it is a High-end, custom-built instrument. An M would be a mid-range, factory-produced model and a T would be an instrument primarily for the Japanese market. This all based on a web search. Sounds like you might have pretty nice bass.

I just got the email back.. It is a RS4-21 (Rosewood, standard style, 21 fret 4-string. Originally made without a pickguard.
The electronics have been replaced with the current Sadowsky Metroline preamp assembly,
The original tuners are no longer available. The closest replacement is the Hipshot HB1.
