Need help with cabs. What does this mean?

Thanks for all the input guys! I appreciate the help! Btw, you don't need to worry about how heavy a cab or cabs would be for me, as I'm probably younger than most of you here.
Do 8-ohm 410s then. 1 now, 1 later. Until you pick up the 2nd one, elevate the 410 24" or so if you can, just to get it closer to your ears. Put it on a box/stand/stool/whatever.
So if I get an 8 ohm 410, and elevate it so it's more like ear level, will that sound similar (or, at least closer) to a 210 vertical stack?

What happened to the 2 x 210s?

O.K. then, two 210s for loud punk and/or metal...a couple Fearless F210s will work. Go for'em.

What it will do is get it closer to your ears & allow you to hear your tone better. I'm a believer in elevating everything, even 2 x 410s & 810s.

Different issues. The only thing that sounds like a vertical array is another vertical array. Side by side tens get louder and easier to monitor as you stack them up but it's the same dispersion fail.

I'm a big proponent of loud but not so loud you can't hear vocals and tones of drums. Stadium rigs in bars is ok for Jimmy, not your average punk rocker.

I skipped telling you about a pair of 2x10's on purpose. You would end up with 4 ohms (in most real world scenarios) and be looking at putting 225 or so watts into each one (at full tilt). Not an unreasonable request for higher end 2x10's, but on a budget, that much power makes most cheaper cabs into fartboxes. Now that you've mentioned you do harder stuff, I'm glad I recommended the 4x10 configuration. Just like said already be other guys, stick a phone book under the front edge, or put it on a crate. Keep in mind also that there are still waaaaay better solutions to all of the issues and stuff mentioned here, but all of them come at a premium. If you ever find yourself with huge power needs, and a luxury budget; the dispersion, sensitivity, surface area, and impedance issues become easier to wrangle without compromises. For now, an 8 ohm 4x10 and the plan to add another of the same is IMO a good plan. It may be a bit harder to find one, or even a second one later, but an 8 ohm 2x15 pair would be balls.

Thank you ;) Yes, I prefer two 210's in a vert stack over a 410, but I prefer an 810 or two 410's in a vert stack over anything.
Very nice, although I'd go 2 x 215, given my druthers. 6 of one, half dozen of another. Of course I'd need 2-ohm stable power, but I have that covered :D .

Or even better, 2 x AudioKinesis Hathor 1855s :woot: .
