Currently, I can't move the half-stack and play it because it's 11:35 PM in The Hague and my dad and neighbors would go crazy, but I do hear a difference when I stand 3ft. from my amp as opposed to 6ft. when I play it, so I think I get what you're trying to point out.
I also figured that I would need to adjust the EQ everywhere I go, but I see this as an advantage as it allows me to balance out my tone wherever I am, and I usually write down my 'at home settings' for other effects as well, as those can also sound different through different amps and such when I go over to friends and bring along some stuff.
Would the 31-band EQ rpsands mentioned help me out, or is this overkill? If it isn't, what brands make them? If it is, what else would be a good thing to check out and by which brand?
may I politely suggest you try my suggestion above....before you start spending money.
I know I don't know anything about bass "sonics" but, it is worth a try.
