Need Help With Selecting an Ampeg 410 Cab please

Hi Guys, i am new to this.

Just want to throw up a discussion on an Ampeg 410 cab option for myself. I use a USA standard Precision Bass and have just bought a STV 3 Pro.

Has anyone got an opinion the Ampeg 410HLF, Ampeg PN-410 (Neo) or the Heritage 410HLF cabinets?

What Cab would sound good with a P-Bass?

I have read mixed reviews about the non USA Ampeg stuff here on TB. I have the a heritage 410 hlf and two PN 210s which are all designed and assembled in the USA. I am using a Heritage SVTCL to power and my rig has never sounded better.

I also have a Mesa M-pulse 600 with a Powerhouse 410 cab. The Mesa rig also sounds killer but my personal preference is Ampeg.

^This is absolutely not true so don't listen to stuff like this.

The classic 410HLF is a fine cab, I own one. The heritage is the US made one and has different speakers. I can't comment on the sound of the heritage because I haven't played one. As far as the classic 410HLF goes it is one of the bigger if not the biggest 410 you'll find out there and it's not light and it can be awkward to move around. I mean I can carry mine up and down stairs by myself but I'm a pretty big guy. Sound wise people say they can get boomy which they can if you eq with your eyes and not your ears. It is a naturally mid-scooped cab and has very strong bass response. It is also a 4ohm cab so if it turns out to not be enough you can't run another cab with your 3 pro. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it but it's not the cab for everyone. The PN-410 is designed differently. It's much lighter it's 8 ohm and I believe it's voiced with a little more mids. Hope that info helps.

Actually when they moved production overseas they started using plywood again instead of OSB and still use the same speakers, so buying newer will get you a slightly better quality cab in terms of components. The Heritage series use upgraded american made speakers and are all hand assembled/tested in washington. If you want weight savings go for the neo, I haven't heard them personally so I can't compare the sounds.

Obviously you never played any of the new stuff and you're just repeating something you heard from a dopey friend who's also never played the new stuff. The new cabs are made with actual plywood and much improved speakers. The heads sound identical to me compared to their SLM counterparts. I use rental Ampegs on the road all the time, and the best rigs I get are newer ones because of the cabs.

I returned my new SVT410-HLF for two reasons, it was too boomy and could not handle higher power (started barking or farting) plus the tolex is the cheapest stuff I 've ever seen (you sneeze and it comes off). Does not sound like my 810, of course its ported vs sealed. If I kept it im sure I could work with it and get it sounding better, but I did not have time.

I'd look at virtually ANY other Ampeg 410 (or 2x210-pf210 x 2 ) rather than the SVT410HLF myself.
I had one a it injured me ;)

Well, OK I inured myself with it- awkward to move, heavy SOB AND awkward to lift, & as above,I found it boomy, undefined & farted out quite early, comparitively speaking.

I'd look at two PF210's or the pro-neo perhaps.
I ALSO think that if Ampeg released a 6x10" SEALED cab (610E) with 3 separate sections like their 810E, they'd have a REAL winner on their hands
