Need Hondo Fame 871 Jackson shape help!

Hi everyone!

I am looking to restore my 80s Hondo. The photo is from this site, but it's the same exact bass.

Can't find a direct replacement strings thru, four mounting hole bridge. Ideally, I am looking for a black high mass bridge with brass saddles, but will settle for whatever I can find. Trying to avoid drilling.

Also, any idea of a nicely padded gigbag that would fit this bass?

Any thoughts, especially links will be so much appreciated!

Good luck with that. Most any four string, through bridge, will be either a three or five hole mount; it keeps the screws away from the strings. If you are deadset on a four hole string through, get youself a four hole bridge, and drill it for string through.

Looking for one of these yeah? They were very common on Korean imports of the '70s and early '80s. You might have better luck finding one with a bass attached to it. This pic is from a thread on here about a Hondo, but basses with this bridge were sold under a bunch of names. My first bass was a Seville flying V that had one.

I totally agree about the bridge mounts. Thought about drilling the bridge. I guess I'll keep looking for a bit longer and then will resort to this.

Regarding the bag. I have seen these kinds of bags. However, do you think they will accommodate a Jackson shape with one side substantially longer? It looks to me like they're designed for a standard flying v like a Gibson.

Yeah, this would be my last resort. I am really looking for a more substantial himass design, preferably in black, but I'll take it! As they say, beggars can't be choosers...

The ads specifically mention the Gibson and Epiphone flying V. To be honest I don't have any idea, I don't like that design, so don't pay a lot of attention to them, or the accessories for them.

Also that one has 5 mounting holes. It might still fit though.

They look the same to me other than the keyhole shaped string holes and the L shaped back. Just trying to help.

I think that I've got one of those four holers in my crap bin.
but it will be two weeks before I could have my hands in that bin.

I've definitely got a similar five holer in the next room on my Austin Hatchet bass project... This project has remained unfinished for many years
The juice probably aint worth the squeeze.
