I am looking for strings for a new to me Washburn bass. I have some strings that I received from a friend of mine that are roundwound with red tops. Does anyone have any idea what these might be. He said he thought they are daddario but is not sure.

  2. "Red tops" as in red silk? Two possibilities... GHS Boomers or Rotosound 66. D'Addario rounds don't come with any silk.

What colors are the ball ends? Are they colored blue/red/white, or all brass-colored?

    They are all brass.

  4. My best guess would be GHS Boomers.

  5. Any chance you can provide pics of the strings - one at the headstock and one at the bridge?

Yes, they definitely do look like the Boomers.

You've probably got a set of Boomers. Do you like them? They are one of the most common and affordable set of strings, so if they work for you, you're all set. There is no right or wrong with strings. If you don't know what you like, try different sets starting with the common stuff like GHS and Ernie Ball. It should be noted that usually changing brands and sizes of string requires adjustments to the bass.
