Need less Zing from my strings ...

i've been using DR low-riders and as much as i love them, i would like to have a set of strings that are less bright and have
more of a growl to them if that makes sense. any ideas?

DR Black Beauties are pretty much what you are describing.

Chrome flats. If those are still too zingy, then Labella Deep Talkin' Bass. And if you still need less twang than that, the end of the line is Pyramid Gold flats. They are the least twangy and most zing-free strings I have tried. And right out of the package, too, no break-in required.

Man... I was just thinking this with mine. I had them installed on my BTB (about 2 years ago) and don't recall nearly as much "zing" on it as I do with them installed on my P-Bass.

if you really like the Lo-Riders, go for a set of Nickel Lo-Riders.

If you want to stick with roundwounds, try GHS Bass Boomers. They are nickel plated strings with a medium-smooth feel and a pretty tamed top-end.
