Need lots of help please!

Hi guys, I'm hoping you can help me here, I would like to get a song let's say Rope by foo fighters for example and I want to remove the Bass (or any other instrument) from it and then record me playing bass to Rope and then place it in the track.

How do I do this and what do I need?

I would really appreciate everyone's help

Short answer, without the separate original tracks in some form, you can't. There is too much overlap in frequencies to remove a single instrument in this case.

Google around: wave to midi

I saw some demo about a year ago about some very expensive software that could do this. From some German company.

Software like Band in a Box will do a good 80% job on figuring out chords from a song. You can then pick a style and add your own bass line.

Many times bass is just mixed mono - so you can null out the mono part, which usually takes vocals and some other parts along with it.

Nothing is going to be as simple as what you want though.
