Need opinions fast and in a hurry

I was told by a speaker tech who does outstanding work at a high end repair shop that the aluminum cone speakers were not as bullet proof as they looked and that he saw a lot of instances of voice coil alignment problems. In fact my 2.5XL had been pushed a little too hard and handled roughly by someone who borrowed it and I decided to simply scrap the cab rather than repair it based on his advice. I moved on to mostly Mesa cabs from there and that was the end of my Hartke days.

I feel like I need to add that both my XL cabs served me well with rehearsals and gigging multiple times a week for many years, but I take care of my gear and run it well within it's performance envelope. So my comment above is more a caution about not getting carried away because you have "metal speakers". Any cab can be destroyed by careless use or outright abuse and I suppose a lot of folks just felt that aluminum cones equaled indestructible.

The vx115 is slow and muddy... I would go with the Hydrive series.. costly but nice.

I've got a 115XL from the early 90' s and it's most definitely an aluminum cone.

I used one for a while and actually liked the sound alot........I like the 215XL also
I had two 410XL also....but when I switched to Eden XLT cabs...WOW

I did tour with a 4.5XL and was very happy with the sound....heavy cab

Get the XL for sure. The TP series is kinda...... hmmm...... not good. I don't think the XL2.5 and a TP would work well together. I have the XL210 and XL115 in my rig and it is great.

2.5xl is like 35hz I think and 115xl is 40hz

115 is 30hz to 2.5khz.

The 210 was designed by Hartke to add punch to the 115. 50hz to 5khz.

The 2.5 is a full range cabinet 35hz to 12.5khz.

The Hydrive 115 is 20hz to 17khz with the tweeter engaged.
