Need opinions on Lace pickups

I've got dual bassbars in my main axe, they're clear, modern, and very loud for passive pickups. I'd absolutely buy another pair if these broke. No experience with man o wars, unfortunately.
Seems most people have the bassbars. I think I’m going to get the Aluma P’s on pure speculation at this point. I’ve been reading forum posts from 2008 and on about them.

I have the Man o' War pickups on my shorty Jazz. They sound great. I suppose the sound could be called modern, though I feel it as just being clear, warm, and solid. I'm not gonna replace 'em, that's for sure.

 per all of the positive reviews = doesn't look like you're taking a big chance --- i'd be interested in getting your take as i've been looking at those for a long time myself.
I ordered them yesterday, so when I take my bass to practice I’ll give you my initial thoughts and opinions.

I’ve been checking them out for a while now as well but I haven’t really heard anything about them.

Well done, I'll be interested in your thoughts once you get them installed.

I've been considering an Aluma pickup for a fretless build, I'm not quite sure why, as it would probably be a fair way from my usual Bartolini tone preferences. The construction approach just got my interest I guess and I can never resist yet another experiment...

Interesting comment on the Man o' War s from TyBo, I hadn't considered them before, sort of assumed the name meant they'd lean towards a a certain tone, maybe pretty aggressive. I always liked the Lace Strat pickups, but have never really considered their bass pickups for some reason.

I’ve watched a bunch of videos about the man o war’s and am curious to try them out as well but figured I’d start with the Aluma p since it’s a whole different type of pickup. I’m curious about the hi-fi tone. If these don’t work, I’ll sell them and get the man o wars.

I'm attempting to refinish a fretless now. If it doesn't end up firewood, then I'm planning on using the Aluma P's.

For those wondering about the sound, the rumor is there may be a lobster themed video on some alumas in the future. I have no idea when said lobster themed video will come out though. Some projects never complete for various reasons in any business.... but I'll be waiting on that video.

I first saw them when checking out some gear of a metal band I like and originally thought they were Nordstrand Power Blades or DiMarzio Split P’s. When I finally figured out what pickups they were and saw them on the Lace site I was very intrigued by the construction. I’m not sure how I would even adjust pickup height with them because it looks like they sit right on the body.

I have never heard any sound samples of the aluma P. Are you able to record something when you get it installed?

I’m not in my apartment because my amp isn’t quiet enough to be played at a decent volume and still have sound quality. I might be able to do it in my practice space, but even then, it’s still with an iPhone mic.

Got them installed today. My first impression is that they are a very clear and articulate pickup compared to the Seymour Duncan SPB-1 that came installed in it. It still has a very good low end but it just sounds very clear and doesn’t get muddy. Drop tuned sounds very good as well. I get what the hi-fi hype was all about. I’ll give a better review when I take it to practice on Wednesday and try it in a full band setting.

Also, they do get mounted on a piece of foam just like other pickups. I didn’t see it in the photos, but there is a piece of metal going across the bottom. The same pickups work for 4, 5 and 6 strings by mounting them in certain directions.
