I had a deal on a Crest ProLite 2.0 kinda fall through. I may have a bead on a Crown XTi 1000. Does anyone know if this amp will run in parallel mode? I have a rack rig with an Alto APX1000 that I run in parallel mode and it gives just the right amount of power to my cabs. I do not want to use Bridge mode as I don't need that much power. Will the Crown run in parallel mode? I've looked at the manual and all it says it Stereo and Bridge-Mono. If not I'll hold out for another deal on the Crest. They don't make the Alto APX amps anymore and they were perfect for what I need.

You'd probably have to use a short XLR cable from the "link/out" connector of one channel directly into the second channel. There's no internal switching (from what I see on an image of its back panel) to do that routing internally.

Let me make sure I'm thinking what I think you're thinking - you want to give the amp one single input and have that output through both channels? Then yeah, you're probably right. Lots of amps have a parallel output on each channel rather than having the routing built in.

all you gotta do is run the jumper cable to the second channel input ("parallel" mode just does that internally), not a big deal and i wouldn't let this detail influence your choice of amps.

This is true and addressed in the manual under "DSP Processes". A signal fed to channel 1 is shared with channel 2...no need for addt'l daisy-chain or pass-thru cabling.

Never mind, I think I see it. They don't call it parallel. They call it "Input Y"

aha!

maybe that's because older crown amps used to have a third option called "parallel mono", where you put a fat piece of wire jumped across the two hot banana plug outs, used one ground banana out, and you got both halves of the amp down one speaker cable, only in parallel instead of bridge mode's sort of "series".

you'd get a way lower impedance-handling, like an amp that could only do 4Ω per side would do 2Ω in parallel mono, but you'd get the same power as if you were at 4Ω per side.
