There is a 1969 fender baseman ( a couple weeks ago ) head at Dan's guitars for 600 and you might be able to negotiate. Ask them if you can have a week to check the tubes and wiring ( take it by the Guitar and Amp Doctor, the dude is straight up ). Cheaper then shipping and hauling around your other amp just trade it in for a couple cool pedals or resell it when you move.

thanks really, I've spoken with the guitar amp doc a few times, he seems real cool, I actually plan on having him check it out when I do get it shipped, definitely my first choice here!! But I'm in no hurry and can't afford another amp right now, or to get it shipped for awhile, I have to save up a bit, my wife wants to stay here cuz she has alot of family in pearl city and Mililani, so I'm gonna explore some options to see if I can make that happen, in which case I will want my amp!! But that would be cool to have a 69 bassman though!! Thanks for the heads up!! I'll have to check it out, is that in Honolulu?

Use USPS and lots of bubble wrap and newspaper. Fedex and UPS are jokes, I've heard so many horror stories of them losing/braking shipments.....

I wonder if they have a weight limit though, I sold a bass through them a few months back, and they were WAY cheaper than UPS, I'll have to look into that, I'd like to think they take more pride in their work too, a big plus!!!

A great packing material that is light weight and perfect for your amp is Spray Expandable foam insulation!! Double wrap your amp in a plastic bag and use the Great Stuff expandable foam. Spray it in the bottom of your box, set the amp in and use another can to spray it on the sides. Amp is encased in foam, doesn't move around, perfectly safe and with the plastic covering your amp, boom there you have a clean and tidy shipping container custom built for your amp and adds very little weight

update: so according to the USPS website they do have a 70lbs weight limit, UPS site was pretty bad(as I expected!!), fed ex site said for approximately 90lbs(with packing materials etc)it would be $400-600, I'm not surprised though, I'll call my local post office tommorow to double check on this, maybe look into alternative shippers also, bit I'm in no rush, thanks everyone!!

Jesus Christ!

It would probably be cheaper to have somebody fly commercial & check it in as a carry on.

I actually considered that when I was up in MN, but for carry on it has to fit under the seat, as the weight limit for the overheads is 125lbs, meaning I'd need a whole one for my self, another thing I considered was to bring it carry on, but have them stash it in the front, but that's kinda questionable and risky as I think they discourage that, though I've done that with bass guitars before, they'd put it in the flight attendant area, but I wasn't sure about that. I definitely wouldn't have it checked, that would be moronic!!

I'll just wait for now and plan on it costing me $$$, but everyones responses gives me some food for thought in the meanwhile!! Thanks for all the help!!
