Need some advice with Daddario tapewounds

I was going to try the dadarrio tapewounds on my Ibanez acoustic. I ran into am interesting problem. The E string will not fit in the tuner peg. Medium scale strings 50/105. Can I peel back the silk winding to make it happen? Any advice is appreciated

You can either:

- remove silk until the point you need it to, but not further toward the nut because, as you will observe if you follow this course of action, the exposed black nylon tape beyond the silk will start unravelling, which you want to stop between the tuning post and the nut (in other words, silk is functional on tapewound strings);

- thread the string through a spacer (of some kind) before installation, which will have to happen through the soundhole instead of the pinhole (pin may be not installed at all, or else may require some shaving of the tip in order for it to co-exist with the aforementioned spacer). Spacer should be long enough to hopefully cause, at the other end, a thinner section of the silked tapering string to present itself at the tuning post and fit it. Of course, it should not be long enough to make the headstock-end silk start on the nut.

Well I peeled back the silk at the tuners and all is well until I went to tune it and this occurred. Do I need to peel the silk off this end too?

Bridge pins are a giant pain in the dérrière. They're only there to prevent the string from escaping through the hole, but the actual ball-end stopping is done at the inside edge of the hole (IOW the tip of the pin is supposed to pass the ball and sit beyond/below it). Shaving some silk so that there's more room for the pin yet leaving enough of it for the tape not to unravel would be tricky-to-impossible.
I suggest you get an extra set of bridge pins

put away the old ones and carve the new as much as you need them to in order for each one and its string to fit the hole.

This is all on the E string- the wrappings are too wide for the pin and I think I may have put it back in incorrectly. thanks for your help
