Need some help. INDIE ROCK

I am taking the plunge and want to make a band my first priority. Need to move away to be successful it seems. Obviously touring a lot, but for indie rock to the style of Silversun Pickups and fuzzy edgy stuff like that, where is the place to be?

I'm currently in Michigan, and it feels like a wasteland.

Easy vs west coast.

Be open, I want opinions and examples
