I'm replacing speakers on a fender bassman cab (2x15), and I was noticing it had 4 holes drilled into the bottom of the cab (I assume these were for the original casters). Anyway, the casters were replaced and relocated on the bottom, and I was wondering if these holes should be plugged, or left for porting. It seems that these are the only entrance for air movement in the whole cabinet, and I know that these are listed as sealed cabs. Does anyone have a bassman 2x15 cab that also have these "ports". Or, should I just plug 'em? Thanks!

need some info on early 70s fender 2x15 cab

Plug them or you cab will make undesirable noises, is this cab the model with the speakers set diagonal instead of vertical?orygun39 said:

That was the cab for the 50 watt 'Bassman 50' head so maybe it's a good idea to replace the speakers if you intend to gig it.orygun39 said:
I would see how it works without plugging them. You should do it from the inside if and when you do it, so your only out a bit of time. Those holes shouldnt be that big, if they are for casters. If I remember right, about a 1/4". You shouldnt notice a BIG diffence with them plugged, unless they are oversized for some reason. They should only be as big as the post from caster though.
