Okay, so it's about that time for new strings. I play a 5 string Cirrus, for progmetal, in D standard with the lowest string being an A. A friend of mine recommended the dunlop super bright steel set, but I don't think I can get away with a .125 for a low A. The D'addario flexsteels are my second option, but I'm afraid that the tone will be too springy. I like throaty and low mid heavy tones a lot, but I also want to try something new since I've been playing nickel wounds for as long as I can remember. Any advice?
