D'addario XL nickels
X2. D'Addario EXL 170 (.45-.100) is a good all around set.
I have used them on passive JJ and PJ basses.
They seem to have a little less tension than the GHS Boomers I used to use (also good strings).

I've used round wounds for many, many,.........many, 30+ years, on my jazz basses.
Recently tried a set of D.A. Chromes flat wounds on my R.W. jazz.
Absolutely LOVE em'!!!
Fat, smooth, with some high-end crunch.
Their sound sets very well in the 6 pcs. country/rock group I work with.
