Double Bass Need to put a reference on my Eb bass!

Hello double bass friends,

I would like to know if somebody try to put extra wood in a Eb double bass neck to make it feel like an D neck? I would like to have the D as reference for my thumb :) I don't want to put a false nut or change neck ( the bass sounds great).
If anyone has ideas or photos it would help a lot!!

A big hug from Germany.

D will be exactly 1/3 of the distance from nut to bridge. It’s a lot of work if you want to try.

Your D will ideally be at the 34 ⅔ CM measurement. Deflection from actually stopping the note vs just playing the harmonic right there will of course make it slightly different, but you'll be in the ballpark.

But I would also just suggest practicing with your bass a ton and getting used to the E flat being your landmark rather than a D. It shouldn't take more than a few days before you just stop thinking about it.
