Neg Feedback Deserving Behavior

What do y'all think about the Q&A in this FS thread?

For Sale - 2017 Spector Forte 6 #009
IMO seller gave a great initial description and answered the Qs about string spacing and weight. After that it goes down hill pretty fast. Certain Qs should have been asked in a PM instead of clogging up his thread. I would buy from this seller if in the market for what he had to offer. IMO the differences between legitimate purchase Qs and tire kicker redirect is self evident.

I hate when people clog up a for sale thread with senseless comments. If it's not a direct question about the item, take it to a PM. And you don't need to add "PM sent". It makes it look like you're buying the item when really you're just low-balling or offering a trade of some bass that you can't sell.

In your opinion would it still be considered bad form to add "PM sent" when trying to work a legitimate deal?

Lmao if that’s the case then don’t sell. Selling things means dealing with people. Can’t deal with people ? Then don’t sell poopie. It’s not rocket science.

It's not about not dealing with people. It's about not dealing with people that give you a 'complicated' vibe.

Works both ways, as a buyer and a seller.

And no kittens get harmed in the process. Usually.

I think the seller's response was a bit... harsh. But no big deal.

I am always a bit amused when people ask "why do you sell?", especially like in this case pointing out that the buyer bought it new and now is selling at a loss (as is normally the case if you bought new).

What does it matter to you if I sell it because I ran into financial difficulties and need the cash, or I'm moving abroad and getting rid of stuff I don't need to make things easy, or what. I may not want to get into my reasons, especially if I am selling reluctantly. Ask anything you like about its specs, its condition... but why I sell is none of your business. I may tell you, because I generally don't care and I like to be polite but I will find it a bit odd/amusing.

Oh, you think that there's something wrong with it and that's why the seller may be letting it go? And... if that's the case... a seller that gave you a very detailed description and answered about specs, you think he was withholding that information and now is going to tell you?

If you really want to know why someone was selling, there are better ways to approach it. I am not saying you need to buy them dinner, but get into a conversation. It's the best way to know a bit about the seller, if that's what you want to do in order to get a sense for that that person is like.

I don't know, I always found it a strange question. If there are any 'secrets', the seller is not going to tell you, and there may be personal reasons forcing the sale and the seller doesn't really want to talk about it.

Lol true, but let’s be real if you put up an instrument for sale and say I hate to part with this This says you have had time with the instrument. That being said you know if electronics work. You know if the neck has issues. At a bare minimum these you know...so I’m sorry but these you can answer and just say the rest I’m not clear about...again not rocket science...just plugging in the bass and 2 min of playing.

Actually, I'm on an antique radio forum where the rules are that if you want to buy something that is in the for sale section you have to post something like "I'll take it, pm sent."
Russ

I've always indicated "PM sent" since I realised that people (including myself) not always see the notifications for messages, for some reason (on another forum, I am not a seller here - purely for geographical reasons, as this seems to me largely US based and I'm a little far away from most of the market).
I'm not sure how that would bother anyone unless their scroll keys are wired to give them an electric shock everytime they press it or something ;)

For the most part, yes, of course. As a seller I try to answer every question, because 1) I want to sell, and 2) it would seem rude not to. Most questions are simple, and if I sell something the first thing I know is that it works, and if there is any problem whatsoever I know about it and make it known.

I'd imagine 90% of people are fine, it's that this thread mixed two of the 10% sector... making it a 1% when combined. :D

But enough about agreeing, that's not what the internet is for. We need to find something else to argue about!

I sent the seller a message and got a respose three days later:

Me: Nice bass. I'm a fan of Warmoth built stuff. I'm concerned about the weight because of some shoulder issues. Can you tell me how much it weighs?

Seller: "sorry don't know weight. no scales in the house were fat we know it lol. but id say 9 to 11 pounds ty for interest bill"

Make what you will of that.
