There are many basses out there. Just buy another one if the experience isn't great.

LOL. How many things have you sold online? In sales, if you have something people want, the other thing you have are people who will buy it. There are people who will make it easy for you, and there are people who will make it difficult. If you understand that time is money, you will have that thing sold before you even have a chance to answer the 25 questions some other guy has tossed into your inbox. So, yeah, if that's a buyer's market, it's only a buyer's market for the guy who isn't wasting my time.Yeah we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one. IMO, If you won't answer what would be considered common questions and consider that "jumping through hoops" that is a red flag and you can't have my money. If you don't want to sell to the general public then do private sales not public listings.
Buyers market does not mean the buyer has a right to be a jerk. They do however have a right to ask questions so they can make an informed purchase decision. They are considering giving you their money for your products/services/goods. Thus buyers market.

If you have something that nobody wants, you can call that a buyer's market, but if nobody wants it, who cares? In reality it's only EVER a buyer's market if you're needy enough to make a deal that the buyer likes. And many of us just aren't that needy.
See? OP DIDN'T buy a bass. No feedback without a transaction. No transaction.
And yet, here we are 8 pages in still arguing about it. My prediction was thirty pages. Anyone wanna bet?
If a merchant isn’t mature enough to politely refuse service without calling someone an “ass”, they don’t deserve any business at all.Any merchant has the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason.
Referring to a random ebay seller as a "merchant" is a bit of a stretch. It's just a normal dude with little tolerance for anyone who is too nitpicky. It's a personal problem for him that he will just have to cope with.If a merchant isn’t mature enough to politely refuse service without calling someone an “ass”, they don’t deserve any business at all.
I used that term as a response to the quote in my post.Referring to a random ebay seller as a "merchant" is a bit of a stretch.
Look, I'm not defending the seller. He's clearly dodgy and I'd stay a million miles away from him.I don't think this is really a good analogy at all. It would be more like if it was a home built car from custom spec parts and the seller was the second owner.
My feeling on it is that the seller should have been able to answer at least the question of if it has any mechanical or electrical issues. As an eBay seller myself, I would never treat a potential customer the way this seller did, even if I did find the question a bit tactless. But oh well, in the end I think it's just important to conduct yourself professionally and if the seller is not answering your questions in a way that would make you confident moving forward with the purchase, just consider it a dodged bullet and move on.
I think we need a first world problems forum.![]()
“do you have the instrument” I mean he did ask the question. How was he to know if the guy had the bass or was selling it for someone else.
I'm a bit surprised by your response to this matter. Being rude to a potential customer for having logical questions makes no sense. Especially in an online purchase where the buyer can not do a hands on evaluation. As stated in another post, supply & demand determine the market and imo it is a buyers market for luxury items such as musical instruments; electronics, etc. in the current economy.LOL. It's just ridiculous how the OP and seller exchanged went from 0-100 in one message and the threats of negative feedback started just becase the seller couldn't/wouldn't answer questions to the OP's satisfaction.
Just move on. It wasn't meant to be and someone else will get a bargain or a nightmare buying from the seller.
Lmao if that’s the case then don’t sell. Selling things means dealing with people. Can’t deal with people ? Then don’t sell poopie. It’s not rocket science.Bingo. I love the people here who jump to the conclusion that the seller "can't" answer the simpler questions. Nope, the seller just doesn't want to deal with you. Get over it.
