Never EVER use a 1/4" cable for bridge operation. It's dangerous to both you and your amp. Both the tip and the sleeve will be hot to ground and twice as hot to each other. If the metal of the plugs touches any ground the second channel of your amp could well be toast.
True. And never run bridged unless one channel is incapable of delivering adequate voltage swing to drive your speakers to full output. That's very seldom the case with less than 8 ohm loads.
 
Now that I saw a picture of the back of the amp, the problem is clear.

Ampeg (and Crown as mentioned above, as well as others) have chosen to use the bridged connection also for the bi-amp setting. So if you use a four-pole connector you have acces to both channels A&B at the bridged connector. But this forces you to use a non-standard, and maybe DANGEROUS, cable to make a bridged connection.

Other manufacturers, like EV, use channel A output for bi-amp setting: A on pins 1, B on pins 2. If you only want to run chanel A you just only use pins 1, which is typically how things are wired. Then for channel B and the bridged outputs they only use pins 1. Caution still must be used, but it doesn't require any non-standard wiring.

Sorry Bill, I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that. My Crown XLS 1000 puts out 700 Watts @ 8 Ohms in Bridged-mono. The cab I ordered is rated for 800 Watts and has an impedance of 8 Ohms. Is it okay to run the amp bridged into this cabinet?

When it's in Stereo mode, it runs 215 Watts @ 8 Ohms per channel.

The GK 410MBE takes speakon and 1/4" inputs. Should I get a banana plug to do the connections of the Crown (for bridged mode), and use a Speakon for the cabinet? Would the Speakon be 2 or 4 pole?

To run the amp bridged you want to connect the positive terminal of channel 1 to the positive terminal of the cabinet and the positive terminal of channel 2 to the negative terminal of the cabinet.

You can do this with speakon connectors or banana plugs or bare wire at the amp end. Use whatever is convenient.

You should use a speakon plug at the cabinet end. 2 or 4 pole doesn't matter.

Yes. The more often seen scenario is someone bridging to put 1200 watts into a 4 ohm cab rated at 500 and all they accomplish is to double the chances of blowing drivers. Your rig is well matched.

Phew... you got me worried about that. The "more often seen scenario" was actually something you warned me about a couple of weeks ago. That was a huge factor in choosing this cab (weighing 35 pounds less helped too).
