Never paying for shipping again!

***?!?!? And they cover the price of stuff for your full declared value if it gets lost or broken?!?!?
It was all through UPS ground, so yes since i purchased the insurance. Knocking on wood, i've never had to test the insurance yet, and from the horror stories I've read I hope I never have to... ;)

Did you use pirate ship? Last September i used them, which was UPS Ground, to ship a bass from Kansas to Washington DC for about $55 with insurance.
Just sold a P bass with gig bag and shipped from Santa Rosa, CA to Texas. Buyer supplied UPS label through Ship Station, 2nd Day Air. Cost was $70. Don't know how but seems it is possible...tracking says it will arrive tomorrow.

Pirate Ship insurance is through Ship Insurance, not UPS. I had a claim last year and the money was in my account in less than a week.

I buy basses in...halves. Bodies and necks from Warmoth. Each half ships across the country for about $20 - $40 total. If you take the neck off a bass and ship it in 2 boxes like Warmoth does, You could save enough money in shipping to buy a REALLY nice gig bag for carrying it around once it gets where it's going.

They really jack up the price for longer boxes (for no rational reason)!

You're going to take the neck off of a $8k MTD and ship it in two boxes? Don't think the buyer is going to get any chuckles out of that.
