New 4-String or first 5-String?

^ haha actually today i was writing a part wherea high c wouldve been helpful, i just repostitoned the note on the lower string above the 5th fret, but it would've made things easier. But i wouldn't, too much work and nut filing and whatnot.

Oh BTW, ive been at the MTD Kingston line, they sound good and i played an Artist once, don't remember it much but it was a nice bass.

Something else to consider: string spacing.
Personally, I like narrow spacing. Go figure, I've been playing Rick basses since '86, and my Peavey 5er has slightly more narrow spacing, and I find it even easier for fast runs using 3 or more strings.
I just find it easier to play quickly without having to move my right fingers as much.

I can't slap for beans, though, so that's not an issue, but that's just my personal preferences.
Everyone's different.

Just keep trying basses until you find the right one.
You'll know it when you play it.
Also, being patient means you'll save more money for the best bass for you.
Besides, you're only young, you have lots of time to change/improve/grow, etc.
