New Aguilar 2x8?

I only own 8s.

I love them. I play electric and upright and they work great for both. Driver size doesn't matter as much any more. My MAS 28/18 can produce super lows at high volumes with my DB no problem.

I use a RevSound 48VT (vertical tower) and it rips for BG! Lots of low end, great response. You'd be surprised by what 8s can do (if done right). You'd be more surprised with what MAS could do with 4.5s, 5s and 6s

JC was a big fan and prominent user of the original SWR Baby Blue combo amp and extension cabs, which used two Bag End 8" speakers and a Bag End high frequency cone driver (not the typical SWR Foster piezo -- ugh). My understanding is that after Steve Rabe was out of SWR and JC moved on to Aguilar, JC wanted a small speaker cab designed along the lines of the Baby Blue extension cab. The Aguilar DB 285 looks to be quite similar, but with a higher wattage rating. These old SWR Baby Blue cabinets are a lot more common than the DB 285 and come up for sale from time to time. Just make sure the drivers are still good. So that's an alternative if you like but can't find the DB 285.
