New Arkham Class D “Beast”

My Beast should be shipping later this week, I cant wait!

Just curious if anyone has figured out a good case solution yet? as Wells's Gator case was too small, and I think based on the dim's, the harbor freight model mentioned earlier in this thread is also, I'm looking into some other options. Pelican 1550 seems like a good fit (a little big, room for cables etc...), this one also looks like a good option.

Anyone got a case for theirs yet (besides the studio slips case)? Definitely want something hard sided with ample foam. thx

Will get some pics and some gig reports this weekend. Anyone who has been thinking about ordering a Beast, take it from me. This thing is the serious truth. I was so bummed to let the prototype go back, I've been pacing the halls waiting for my unit to ship. It just sounds and performs so beautifully, and has all the features I need for stage and studio. in closing: GET ONE

I've been playing mine a few times a week and loving it. My basic tone is still treble straight up with range and bass between 1:30 and 2:00. I've been using a G&L SB-1 with flats, and an SB-2 with stainless rounds.

The two (good) surprises for me is how much I'm using the hi and/or mid switches (for bass boost I stick with the knob), and how progressive the master volume control is. Despite having 1200W on tap, "apartment loud" is just past noon on the dial, making it very easy to set lower volume levels.

I'm mostly using the DI out and headphones, but I've played it through a Barefaced Two10 and a Hathor 1203 a bit. It's a little too tame/dark through the Two10 and would need some tweaking. But the Beast and the Hathor work extremely well together.

Next order of business is finding a dirt pedal that works well with the Beast...

Try an Earthquaker Westwood, thats the one I settled on after way too much doinking around looking for a good OD/Fuzz/Dirt pedal. I dont use high gain/fuzz sounds so the Westwood is perfect for dirtying up the sound while keeping my bass tone intact.

Are you as happy with your production unit as you were with the proto?

Super happy. I was wondering how it would feel to have it back, after a little absence. I have been playing my 2di4 and 1000P since I shipped the proto back to Micah. As soon as I started playing it on a gig this weekend, immediately remembered how absolutely killer the Beast is. It just performs superbly. Tone, power, features, flexibility, build quality, it checks all the boxes for me.

Love the addition of a clip indicator by the master volume, and a handle too.

FWIW the gain staging is set so that the amp can approach full power as the tube preamp begins to clip.. that's with an average passive bass and flat EQ settings. This allows for full adjustment of the Gain and Master controls, rather than having everything interesting happen in the first 1/4 turn :D

Ya I like it and I can't even imagine clipping it. I tried for the heck of it. 8ohm, high gain, high input level and still was stupid loud and sounding great. No clip.
