Haha, just headphones tonight (Rolls personal monitor from the di out). Might not get to blast it until Saturday.
Amazing.
The SB-2 wasn't a good test because the grounding and shielding need some work. So I broke out the SB-1, which is quiet and wears flats.
For both basses I found a real nice spot with all switches down, treble flat, and range and bass both about 2 o'clock.
Much more exploration is in order, but for now that is a very happy place.
I run a Zephyr preamp, which is, ostensibly, the front end of this amp! There is, figuratively, not a bad sound in here! I have, literally, cranked all the knobs and flipped all the switches, other than mute(LOL!)and it still sounds killer! I can't imagine this amp not sounding like a zillion bucks! If I were looking at buying a new amp, this would be #1, the Reiner Saturn V would be #1.001, and the Mesa WD-900 would be after them.

Hey pbass, long time no trade
. Ya I was going to go with the Saturn and thought it might be too bright and modern sounding and wanted something with a more vintage flavor. Mine will be here tomorrow and it will be tested against the Mag 800 and my Demeter VTBP 800. I have a WD on order from my local mom/pop shop Mesa dealer, but I could have ordered ten individually from sweetwater or Mesa Hollywood and had them here before the one locally. So I was hoping it would be here to compare as well, but will have to wait on that.

Any beast owners fire theirs up for a maiden voyage yet? Seems like at least a couple were delivered this week! Inquiring minds want to know
Sonic bliss. I have turned all the knobs and pretty sure you can't get a bad sound out of it. Not that you would want that. I maxed the gain and used volume from zero to earth shattering and never clipped the amp. Tried it with 8ohm Baer ML115 at 600watts and Bergantino CN212 at 1200 watts. Found the sweet spot on the gain to be about 70-90%. So much harmonic richness. More to come!!

holy input gain batman.
I like running the gain hot to get a little breakup, but I also like diming the master and using a smidge of input gain for massive headroom that is still fat and warm.
On my Zephyr, I find the tone too compressed for my taste after about 2:00 on the gain.

2:00 is about my limit as well. And with a hot signal, I get the grit I'm after by 2:00.
