Back on track here....
I plugged in this beast last night. In simple terms, it sounds like it looks. Sneak a peek at this thing, and it nearly screams at you. Plug it in, and it totally does for your ears what the aesthetics do for your eyes. This is an aggressive sounding bass, and I'm loving it. The lows are more open sounding than I expected, but they're full and they just WORK. The highs are crisp and focused, but not thin. The mids are very present, and in fact, in the ~ 1k - 1.2k range (best guess) this thing just SPEAKS. The emphasis on that section of the spectrum is very strong, to the extent I actually dialed some of it out with the parametric settings on the Shuttle 9.0. In a mix it might be perfect - I'll find that out this weekend. Solo, it makes for ample focus and almost a percussive quality to the attack...by far the most aggressive sounding Roscoe I've played/heard. While running it through its paces last night @ Gelb, Ed and I both muttered, "MTD." It's definitely got some of that vibe happening, and while noodling it also reminded me a bit of my old Modulus Q6. Wicked bass.
I'll be taking this one right into an R&B/pop hit, and I'm guessing it'll really shine in that environment. More to come...
