New Band Check List

I would say from my experience Blue if they don't answer back they were not worth your time. In the past when I ran an add and asked the tough questions 100% of those who responded were experienced people I could work with.

Exactly Bassbully, The bands that can respond are established bands that have gigs on the line and are looking for a new member of the band, a new bass player.

These established working bands are not screwing around , they do the auditions and find someone relatively fast.

But they are usually professional and at least get back to you to say thanks but they found someone.I never burn my bridges with these types of people.

Well said. And we, as a group of professionals in a yet-to-be-established band never burn our bridges with anyone, especially those who approach us in a professional manner, even if we feel that person is not the right fit for what we're looking for. Our band's reputation is on the line, and the last thing we would want to be known for is being a bunch of jerks.

But there's a flip-side, here. I can't tell you how often I've spent time corresponding with a so-called "professional" musician who has responded to one of our ads for a new band member, only to have that person suddenly drop off the face of the earth. I mean, hey, if the project ain't yer cup o' tea, no problem. But at least have the decency to politely say so, rather than leaving the other party wondering if you were abducted by aliens, or something. A simple, "Not what I'm looking for, but best of luck," will suffice. So it works both ways, for sure.
