New Bass Amp Day (Behringer content)

I have a BX600 that I got for a dollar a watt, been using it in the practice rooms at the shop, and gigging it now and then since 09 or so. My only regret is that a guy I'm friendly with has paid me more than my initial cost over the last couple of years when he rents it for gigs. I think I should give him the amp plus twenty bucks.

My Behringer experience has been more positive than I would have imagined.

Despite a recent thread I started on putting together a rack setup, a Behringer BX4500H came up for AU$100 secondhand this morning. Just had to get it - $100? I could do more damage to my wallet buying a low-mid tier compressor pedal or an OK bass lead. I was about to spend more $$ on a Levy's strap from eBay, for crying out loud!

I've had a Behr BX1200 kickback combo for ten years now. It's done everything from home practice to rehearsals, and from small pubs to outdoor concerts - jazz, metal, and now an acoustic rock band. Never failed once. So I am not worried about the head being Behringer, and I don't buy into any of the negative hype. I might even get a BB410 to sit under it.

Yes I know this thread is beyond OLD! But I am the OP and I thought an update to the fate of the BXL3000 was warranted.

After a little more than 2 years and countless gigs, it is STILL working just fine! Very nice surprise for the small amount of dough I had to pony up for it.

Other than the carpeted covering being the ultimate scratching post for my cats only one little thing has failed on this amp. The LED light in one of the EQ sliders sometimes does not light up. Don't know why, but don't really care.

This rig gets two thumbs up!

Hear here! I've owned some Behringer gear and have been flamed here for asking questions about it. I had one of their combo 100 watt bass amps and it got plenty loud enough for my small gigs and I sold it for the price I paid (Stupid Deal Musicians Friend) to a high school bass student. He beats the heck out of it every weekend and it's still holding up. Sometimes I go listen to the young squiers and smile as he cranks out the bass, not even a worry if it's going to keep on ticking. I guess he forgot to read Talkbass lol...

Good for you! Glad you have confidence in your amp. :bassist:

Did not! I use the Behringer for smaller places and my old Peavey Firebass 700 and 810 TVX cab(s) for larger stuff. Trying to sell the Peavey rig right now. Looking at a Hartke LH500 or LH1000 and a couple of the HyDrive cabs. Preferably a 410 and a 115.

I got a different car now than the one I used to have. Which is why I was sold on the portability of the TC stuff. I bought, ironically, a Scion tC which is a hatchback with fold down rear seats. I can, and have a few times, hauled one of my 810s in it. The Peavey stays at the practice room so on gig days one of the other band guys throws it in his SUV.

So, as soon as I'm done beefing up our light show I'm pulling the trigger on the Hartke rig. Whether I sell the Peavey or not!

I would advise against the 4x10 and 1x15 combo....it's better to go with two cabs that have the same size speakers..

and unless your going to run two rigs or bridge the LH1000....money wise your better off just snagging the LH500

Yeah, leaning more toward the 500. I don't understand the bit about the different speaker sizes. Is there a reason that going with that setup would be bad?

There are a ton of threads arguing the good/bad of using a 4x10 with a 1x15 cab. Speaker size doesn't have anything to do with the overall tone of the cab. Usually, a 4x10 has a higher power handling capability than a 1x15, which can be a problem at high volume. By the time you hear the 15 having trouble over the 4x10, it may already be damaged. You would probably better off with 2 4x10 cabs.
That being said, some folks prefer the tone of the 4x10/1x15 combo. Try out both if possible and let your own ears decide.
