New bass and a dead spot.......

No matter what guitar you end up with, a great setup will improve the playability! And I would suggest using the most experienced tech that you can find, and get him to do it with you present, so you can tell him what feels right. Watch closely, and, in time, you can set them up yourself!

Wow man. I just read through two weeks of posts over six pages and this is just horrible. I sure hope you get a perfect bass on Tuesday :)

I could totally see returning that second bass. That body should have been hit with a solid color. I can't imagine why they'd let that go on such an expensive bass.

I had a lot of worries when I purchased a Schecter online. I really didn't like the idea of not being able to see and play the instrument before getting it. It arrived and my worries washed away as I Oohed and Ahhhed over it. I still play my Fender more though simply because of how it sounds. I just can't get enough of a Fender pushing an Ampeg.

I think I'm more surprised than anything. I'm at 2 basses and now 2 guitars that just don't cut it. But I have a Fender MIM P bass that is amazing in fit, finish, and tone and when I compared my son's Fender blacktop Strat(MIM) to my new American Standard....it is every bit as good if not better. So I bought it from him for $100 today, lol.

I guess I've just had some really good luck in the past and right now things just aren't clicking.

With all the money I have out right now(waiting on refunds to post), I could have bought an SVT and been loving life. I guess I just want to see an end to my bad Fender run. I'm a Fender fan but I'm getting a bit discouraged. Hopefully, Tuesday will make things right. :bassist:

Roundup is a good thing. I only have to mow twice a year and occasionally a weed whacker is all I need.

Roundup is a lazy bassist's friend.

I have learned to get them set up good enough for ME but you're right, I need to watch an expert and quit winging it. My AMST Precision will be here sometime today. I can't wait to play it!

I found a local guitar shop that lots of people I've spoken to have given high marks to in set ups, repairs, and even builds. I'm going to stop by there sometime this week and check them out.

It seemed like it took FOREVER to get here. I met the Fed-Ex driver at the truck and was like "here, let me get that for you. No need in having to lug it all the way to the door. I'm sure you've got other deliveries to do. *smile* Have a nice day!"

Out of the box and tuned and it sounds amazing. No hesitation on my part at all. I tore into it right away. I think I may have a winner. I need to set it up to my liking but it's pretty amazing as it is. Yay Fender! I NEEDED that!!! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

After what happened yesterday, I REALLY REALLY needed something good to happen. Story: Varmint in the engine bay. Varmint gets caught in belt. Varmint AND belt disintegrate. Call wife, wife calls tow truck. Tow truck shows up. I'm happy to see that the company name is Powerstroke Towing since I drive a Ford F-250 Powerstroke...........until I realize that he's driving a DODGE. Nothing wrong with Dodge but nobody driving a Ford wants to be towed home by a Dodge.....especially when the company name is Powerstroke towing! I know, I know....pic or it didn't happen. This was taken with my cell phone:
