Going to tell a story here hopefully somebody will enjoy it. I had a 1978 Antigua Precision bass that I loved and regretted selling, has that happened to you? The neck was really worn in and it had a great thin, front to back profile. It came with a white pickguard when I bought it and I had a Reverb seller make a custom pickguard for it. That bass developed a twist in the neck so I had it plekked and it played amazing after San Francisco Guitar Works hooked it up. I recorded, played shows and really liked that instrument. I ended up selling it because I was playing sketchy places and didn't like gigging with a $2000 bass (even more today 
). When I listed it for sale the bass player of one of my favorite bands, Jawbreaker, reached out to me to buy it as well (so cool). Anyway I made some coin but regretted it. I also had the factory special run 2012 Antigua and it was nice but the neck was nothing like the vintage/plekked Fender I had.
I then had MJT make an Antigua body/pickguard and thought it was kind of botched. MJT is great to work with and they tried to make good on it but it was not really Antigua in my opinion. I recently saw MJT had an Antigua Precision for sale and bought it as soon as I saw it. I thought this one was a great recreation of the Fender finish and weighed 4.4 pounds (unbelievably light in my opinion). Fast forward to today and I got it all put together. Not a 100% recreation of my 78 but I like it a lot. This one has a Fender PB-70 Japanese rosewood neck, Gotoh Resolite Tuners, Lindy Fralin overwound pickup and is just a great bass. It also weighs a full 3 pounds less than the 78. It's got a date with the Plek machine next week and should be an awesome instrument. My best attempt at recreating the one that got away if you will. Anyways, appreciate it if you've made it this far. Thankful for all I’ve learned on Talkbass and for all my buddies here.
