New bass day- custom order from Ingold Audio

Just got this in today. I put in a custom order with Mike for this 30" semi-hollow, gold-top. The body is Walnut and the pickups are Serek LZN B-90s.

The pickups are interesting. I'm still getting to know this bass so I reserve the right to change my mind.

First impressions are that the pickups aren't as hot as I'd expected them to be. Almost need a little more pre-amping than other basses. The tone itself is great- definitely warm and woody. It's a cool sound, but it's not that super-responsive, almost glassy sound I get out of the Nordstrands in my Franken-J.

The neck pickup in particular seems to go into breakup pretty easily, if I have the blend knob all the way forward to it I have to back the volume off about 10% to keep from going too wooly.

I'm planning on making some sound clips/reviews if I can find the time in a few weeks once I've had more time to gel with the instrument.

Would love to hear clips when you make them. Great pickup placement and I've been interested in the sound of the b90's.
