Just got this thing in the other day.
What a cool bass. It's a Burnside "the lance" by Guild. 34" scale, super light in the 5-6lb range and it seems to defy the laws of physics for a alternative shape like this. Zero neck dive! it's actually the opposite. I haven't found too much info on these basses other than they possibly started out as a mij run and then moved to Korea later on like the bc rich guitars of the time? Idk. This one is in really really great shape with original gig bag. Also really well built in the quality department.
This thing is neck thru and plays really nice. Then pickups are kinda meh. But in that department with the p pickup pushed a little closer to the neck an emg geezer set this thing would absolutely slay. Was never a fan of p/j with a v-t 3 way switch. Vvt to blend the pickups for me works best. It's a shame Jackson never made an actual RR shaped bass.
Looks blue in the photos but it's a metallic purple that sort of changes with the light.
Really neat getting to try something a lot different than the norm. This has some really cool aesthetics. The inlays are unique, sort of reminds me of the old hamer check inlays.
I haven't seen many of these in person seems like they might be fairly rare? Anyone have any experience with these basses? Doesn't seem to have been played much as it still has its horn tips unlike most flying Vs.
