New bass day!

Just got this thing in the other day.
What a cool bass. It's a Burnside "the lance" by Guild. 34" scale, super light in the 5-6lb range and it seems to defy the laws of physics for a alternative shape like this. Zero neck dive! it's actually the opposite. I haven't found too much info on these basses other than they possibly started out as a mij run and then moved to Korea later on like the bc rich guitars of the time? Idk. This one is in really really great shape with original gig bag. Also really well built in the quality department.

This thing is neck thru and plays really nice. Then pickups are kinda meh. But in that department with the p pickup pushed a little closer to the neck an emg geezer set this thing would absolutely slay. Was never a fan of p/j with a v-t 3 way switch. Vvt to blend the pickups for me works best. It's a shame Jackson never made an actual RR shaped bass.

Looks blue in the photos but it's a metallic purple that sort of changes with the light.

Really neat getting to try something a lot different than the norm. This has some really cool aesthetics. The inlays are unique, sort of reminds me of the old hamer check inlays.

I haven't seen many of these in person seems like they might be fairly rare? Anyone have any experience with these basses? Doesn't seem to have been played much as it still has its horn tips unlike most flying Vs.

Very nice indeed. Interesting about the zero neck dive … I guess because of the big fin sticking out the back!?
Its weird., when strapped the top fin doesn't seem big at all since the bass is so light. But if you hang it off a strap it just wants to point the headstock to the sky and just sits in the perfect spot. If you just hang it off the strap with your hand the headstock goes to 12 o'clock.

Typically a bass like this all the weight is in the neck and it's a complete disaster. Definitely a trip from what I was expecting. Totally blew my mind.

Congrats on the new bass! Love the color.

I was thinking the same thing. Aerodynamics maybe? The big fin must cause some "lift" and force the neck upward. ✈️
Perhaps some sort of witchcraft is involved? I was like what a second. This does not make sense.. and this just straping it on with some cheap cotton strap, not even my big padded leather jobs. Just wierd yet totally cool. General playing, it feels tiny like your playing a steinberger of something but it's really not.. I was thinking this would be a great bass for a smaller player with back issues to be honest.

I don't collect basses anymore, but if I found a Guild X-702 (especially in a color like that). I'd have to buy it. I always liked them.
Yah, "George Jetson" gets used a lot for a cartoonish futuristic design but I'm pretty sure George designed that bass.
