New bass from rondo!

Has anyone seen this new bass from rondo? its a jazz bass with a humbucker in the bridge position. Has anyone tried this bass yet and found out how it sounds? it looks pretty nice considering and i bet it would sound killer with the right pickup in there!

Looks very pretty, except for the awful new SX headstock. Like a $170 version of the Sandberg California TM.

You could order separately a decent looking neck from Rondo, too. One day in far future the Chinese designers will learn how to make nice looking headstocks...

I guess I'm one of the few who think their new headstocks are ok. I just don't care for MM pickup positioning. Too close to the bridge. Overall nice looking bass though.

I think you could maybe bandsaw that headstock into a tele style? I've seen a few people graft wood onto it and do the matching headstock thing too. I've got a few SX bodies, and I just grafted MIM necks on em.

Me thinks it's a little bit sad that people have to re-design their headstocks. Might as well purchase a Squier instead.

Meh, taste is taste. I don't like pointy headstocks, but I love the classic Fender body lines. So I adapt, mod and enjoy. Nothing sad in that, right?

I reshaped one for a friend . . . ha had a similar Rondo. The reshape was traced from one of my Fenders, and closely adapted (wasn't perfectly the same) to the headstock using a Dremal, files, sandpaper, and clear polyurethane on the top and edge . . . the bottom was left unscathed. He wanted to find, purchase, and apply a Fender decal to put on it, but I talked him out of that!

Me too. I can't quite get my head around the extreme reaction to a headstock. There isn't any functional compromise, can it really be a dealbreaker for some people?

Besides, I like it better than the old one too!

I think they know how, but can't use anything that's currently being used now. Once you start looking at all the 4 inline headstocks out there, they don't have a lot of choices if Rondo doesn't want to get sued.

What if you don't like the Fender headstock either? For a bass valued at < $200, I'd do whatever I wanted to do to it.

Really? They make great instruments for the price. I have a six string brice. Best purchase i've made since i started playing bass.
