i sold my 2 fretted basses to buy jaco pastorus fretless jazz bass, but now i have a need to buy a fretted bass (for slapping mostly). on ebay i saw some alembics for about 1500 dollars( which is my financial limit), would alembic be the best buy? my second choice is EBMM sterling which i can buy here.i'm from croatia (europe) so i would be buying in online. i play jazz/blues/funk in my band. please help with advices, thanks

Why not another J bass? I'd recommend a Ric, but I understand they're hard to come by in Europe. Best of luck either way.
yeah, i know. i played both sterling and stingray, and i really liked the sound...but also i'm very curious about Alembics... the problem is that i cant try out any alembic basses here...
so,would cheaper alembic be a better buy than a MM sterling? it's a big decision for me so please help... 
Is there a particular musicman you'd recommend for slapping?

Stingray is exellent for slaping, but i prefer sterling for the jazz neck....bongo should also do the slapping thing very well
