New bass time! Help me out!

Why don't you just try every bass? I'll suggest something a little different than what you listed but still nice, MTD Kingstons, the Z5 would be in your price range used with cash to spare. The neck is what does it for me, sooo comfortable. Also, corvette double bucks are pretty nice.

I'd say Sting Ray! You already have the Geddy Lee to fill your Jazz Bass needs and I'm just not a fan of Warwicks but that's just me.

Im up for anything guys! Just throw it out there! 4 or 5 bangers are welcome, but I currently have two 4s and could go for that low B. But as I said, that will be determined come this weekend!

Thanks guys!
J.

The more I play my Ibby BTB, the better I like it. I got a 455 with Bartolini MK-1s and Vari-Mid EQ and a Fender Jazz V at the same time, for an extended side-by-side. After a month of trials, the Fender's already gone.

The neck profile is a bit slimmer than the Jazz V (but a bit fatter than my Jazz 4s). But, it's fine now that I'm used to it. I also like the B better on the Ibanez. Having a low B is cool, as it opens you up to a new world of playing tunes in E♭.

I love my Fender 4's but for my 5er: BTB hands down. I understand that the higher end BTBs have Bartolini MK-2s and EQs, too. I think the Prestige line is the top quality neck-through, and in your price range used.

Good luck, don't forget to post photos!

If you play jazz or any sort of softer music I would recommend against a stingray. Of all the basses I've played they are easily the most naturally aggressive. If you really want to go EBMM, get a Bongo. I think that they're much more versatile. I actually dig Stingrays a lot it's just that the tone you get with them is the tone you'll always have for the most part.

For the range of genres you describe I'd say that a Jazz V would be a good choice. So far the only Jazz Vs I've played have been MIA Fender Jazz V and a Lakland Skyline DJ5 and of the two I'd take the Fender. The Warwick might cut it but if you're used too jazz necks you will hate the pre-09 necks. Of course, I've gotta recommend Spectors! You might not like the Euro LXs because of the thickness of the neck but you'd probably love the ReBop's. And with a pickup swap, the Rebop could be an awesome bass. There's actually an upgraded ReBop in the classifieds right now :).

You? Recommend Spector? Nah...

And Im taking everything into account guys!

I plan to try a lot, and spend a lot of time in GC this weekend! :bassist:

You already have a Getty,so try a Sterling, maybe that will work for you,i had one for awhile, but i still prefer j profile necks and have always gone back to them.
Go try a bunch of them out and see what feels good to you, or just get one of these.

I'm a Lakland and EBMM nut. You could get a mice used Stinray 4 or 5 here and have change left in your pocket, or something like a Darryl Jones Lakland or Joe Osborn (both Jazz copies) or even something like a Lakland 55-02 which would give you a thunderous low B.

I agree Bob....(a "mice stinray"???? - just bustin your chops!!)....I would go with the DJ if he likes narrower necks....
