Double Bass New bass

Been wanting to move to the DB side for awhile, and this bass popped up on my local CL a few months ago. Needless to say I snagged it the moment I saw it. It's a 1972 Engelhart C1. Spent a whole 2 hundred fiddy on it, with original bag.

It's in great shape. The neck doesn't appear to have ever been separated from the body, although it does look like someone picked it up by the fretboard and sheared it off. The repair is old and stable. Nice flame on the back as well.

It's strung with a bumped set of Rotosounds right now, but if anyone can recommend a good set for this bass I'd appreciate it.

Great buy! I like the early ones so much better than the later models.

That damage looks like it took a fall. The necks all break eventually. Bad design decisions.

Rotos should be fine on that bass. They generally like low tension strings. You may want to change out the tailgut for multifilament steel cable to open up its' voice a bit.
