Lol I don't have that kinda money! Though I am leaning towards the sr500...has a similar feel to my 390...guess I have to get used to the brown...might possibly paint it?

One FRETBOARD is darker than the other.
I like rosewood because it's harder for the gunk from your playing to show.

From the basses you listed, I'd pick the Sr500. IMO, Ibanez basses are generally well worth the money.
I urge you to check out the Atk series (if you haven't already), there's always good deals on used ATK700's here and on Ebay. The ATK300 is great too.

Try to adjust the pickups lower. SRX has humbuckers so they are pretty powerful, but lowering the pickups would help. I doubt a compressor would help unless it has eq circuits.
Well great news! I know there's not a lotta love for schecters here..but I picked up a damien-4 diamond series for $50 and traded my cab in the process! That thing sounds really sweet with the emgs! Aand also got to keep my srx! Wasn't a fan of the bat pearl inlays on the neck, but its just cosmetic anyways..she plays like a dream and sounds amazing!
sr 500 i love mine its great; has a very fast neck and you can dial in pretty much any tone you want with the eq
