New Basss Preamp by TC Electronics - Spectra Drive

I got my AS last night, and for 14 hours or so i was done with buying pedals lol.

We both have ..timing......issues. A couple days after getting the Aftershock, the guitar version (they will all do all the drive engines, the only difference is the original programming from the factory) went on sale for $30 less than the Aftershock.

I'm already awaiting the dUg preamp pedal but this one looks and sounds good too. The Tubetone drive section with prints is likely more versatile than the dUg's drive, and same with the Spectracomp vs. T21's one-knob jobber, but people do have their complaints about the Toneprint app and some TP pedals have been known to reset occasionally, no? Tradeoffs between digital and analog, etc, I guess.

Anybody have a date and price?

I got my AO as a returned product, at a reduced rate. I paid £128 for it. Normally over here (UK) it sells for just over £150 so i was pleased with that. Ill sell my PL so wont be too much out of pocket.

I clicked this thread to hate on the idea of yet another overdrive pedal.

But if they've finally done what TC bass players have always been asking, to properly place BH/RS tone into a pedal with pre, post, and SpectraComp, then they have earned my money.

I feel like a lot of people will use this just for the SpectraComp. The standalone pedal was a great idea, but the pedal needed at least a post level knob.

I can't see how these kinds of preamp pedals are that useful if you can't use it as a stand alone preamp into a power amp. GK made a revision on the Plex to boost the line output voltage in order to do just that. At least 1 volt if not 1.4 right?

I am happy for this pedal. Definitely i will buy it. But they miss the same thing that they don't put in the BH amps. A FX loop. Not all the preamps comes with it but they mention in the video the pedal awesome DI but if you're using modulation or a cab sim pedal you have to buy a separate DIif you want to use it to go FOH. But i should work great in front of a Bass Block or a clean power amp.
