New Basss Preamp by TC Electronics - Spectra Drive

So, for those of us who have never used anything TC before... SpectraComp TonePrints in this case basically presets for the single knob compressor? Do different toneprints drastically alter the sound and response of the compressor?

Yes. Crazy variations on multiband compressor settings. On a standalone Spectracomp. there is an editor that you access through USB. The single knob has different functions according to toneprint.

Mine just came in today, default mode is great, very usable, but for some reason none of the tone prints will not load. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm trying to find out if this is an issue with my pedal alone or others are having a similar problem.

Congrats. Mine arrives on Monday and it's going to be a long weekend.
What are you trying to beam the tone prints from? Are you using the Spectradrive tone prints?

I didn't have any problems with the drive prints. I tried before with my wireless and it didn't work, so this time I used a cord and it worked fine. TC loaded all the comp prints this AM under the SpectraDrive, so those should be good to go as well...

When you say with the chord do you mean via a desktop, I tried that and it was a no go, also did the lights on your pedal blink when the Tone print went through?

He means that he used a cable instead of wireless unit . The difference is that it sounds like you are trying to load via usb on a computer. While I think that can be done, I have never tried it. There is a second way using their toneprint app on a smartphone. The toneprint app on your phone "beams" the toneprint through your pickups. I know this sounds odd until you see it done. Maybe there is a YouTube example of someone sending a toneprint

Quick gig report, then I gotta pass out...

These things RAWK! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

Goodnight...

Kidding(sorta'). They were everything I hoped for and a bit more! At gig volume they sound like a super high end bass amp. They can actually get a small amount of hair when pushed. That was a pleasant surprise. I didn't really get a chance to go out front, but everyone said the bass sounded huge! A small, but noteworthy, tidbit-the settings I enjoyed at bedroom volume on Wednesday night, sounded just as killa' at gig volume on Friday night. I, literally, didn't change a thing other than dialing back the Tubedrive knob to about 9:00. I might mess around with some of the settings at my gig tonight, but I won't stray far from where it's at now. I'll reserve final judgment after I get back to my Barefaced cabs(I have a new Big Twin II coming to match my current one. Hopefully by next weekend), but I think TC has a winner...

Disclaimer: I'm sure that some of the awesomeness I was hearing came from my new bass. My new FBass BN5 also came today, so I unboxed it, threw it in the SUV, and headed to the gig. I may hafta push my wife outta bed to make room for it, it's that amazing!!

Only ever seen/heard one in the flesh at a large pub with no PA support, fat mid-heavy tubey sound with a P bass that filled the room nicely. Sounded great too me!
Damn, just when i was sorted for amps, I'm now looking at a new one lol.
I'm not sure about the two tone print circuits on the head though. Great idea, but having them at the end of the FX chain would mean the interaction wouldnt be the same as having them on a pedal board in the correct (for me) order.
Still, I'm a sucker for red amps so who knows.

Just wondering if you had the pedal on, even if the tube drive light is on you also need the main pedal switch on, both lights on. I tried loading them on mine, and found that I needed both lights on.

Did you have the volume on your phone turned up? Also is it a newer model IPhone? I guess there have been issues with the newer iPhones.

I believe I had both switches on amd both lights on, but I'll try again with that, also I have an LGV20, and the volume was up full on my phone.
