Don’t know if this has been posted yet, but I searched and didn’t see anything.
Super exciting!
I know Behringer gets a bad rep, and there’s a chance that this thread could turn into a dumpster fire like so many other Behringer threads, but hopefully it doesn’t, because this looks very cool.

$199??? competitive price!

Yeah, that’s definitely cheaper than the $3000 original I saw on Craigslist a few months ago. I like the idea of being able to rackmount it and the only have the keys on the floor. That should help keep dust and beer out of the sliders and stuff.

No demo yet so who actually knows, but it looks very interesting.

Just spend a couple more bucks and get a Behringer Model D if you want something really more flexible and classic Moog sounding.
More oscillators and VCO's too. You could get a used Model D for the same cash too.

I have nothing but love for Behringer mono synth recreations, I currently own 2 plus their own Neutron.

That said for $200 it's hard to go wrong.

I was just about to pull the trigger on the Model D when this was announced actually! I’ll have to compare sound clips when they finally come out and see (hear?) what will work better for me.

You know it’s one thing to rip off established pedal giants. It’s a whole other one to rip off a teeny independent manufacturer like Moog. Not cool Behringer, not cool.

Moog is fairly large compared to a lot of pedal companies, and one of the largest in the synth world.

I do tend to agree with you when a company is ripping off or cloning another company’s product when the other company is still producing it. But Moog hasn’t made a Taurus in this format in a long time. They could have reissued it, but didn’t. And the cost of an original is getting crazy, not to mention the maintenance and upkeep of a 40 year old piece of electronic gear.

Considering this is $199, and Moog themselves doesn’t currently offer anything directly comparable, I'm pretty fine with this.

Im good with my Minitaur. Its the best bass mono I have owned, and I have had a few. You can get them used for around $400. Love the small footprint as well.

I like that Behringer has lowered the price for analogue gear though. Not the best build quality in the world (ahem, Deepmind keyboard) but huge value for the price.

?? have you ever been to asheville? its small operation. biggest in the world? you're confused i think. Roland, Yamaha and Korg would be the biggest in the world and compared to them Moog is very small indeed.

They are selling clones of OTHER products where the original company is still making them though. Of course this isn't exactly unique in the world of musical equipment but Behringer has taken this to the extreme. They may not be doing anything illegal but I find their whole business model extremely tasteless and never buy their products.

The new "Vintage Microphone" series with RCA/Coles ribbon lookalike mics that are really just cheap capacitor mics inside copies of classic ribbon mic bodies was a new low, even for Behringer. "Built to last a lifetime, just like the original", LOL. :vomit: Not to mention some of their "tube" studio rack gear over the years... I don't understand why anyone would buy this junk. To be fair, they do have some decent products among all the junk but I will still never support this company.

I’ve never been to Asheville. I should’ve been clearer, when I said one of the biggest in the synth world I meant that they’re one of the major players when it comes to synthesizers. I didn’t mean that their company was one of the biggest in the world. I know they aren’t huge, I just mean there’s many smaller. Plus, Moog doesn’t make anything directly comparable so Behringer isn’t really competing with them on this specific product.

Sounds like you aren’t the intended consumer for this then
If you know where else I can get an analog Moog Taurus style synth for $200 then please let me know and I’ll gladly throw my money that way instead.

Maybe I jinxed myself when I said I hope this thread doesn’t turn into a dumpster fire in the initial post, because we’re not even to the second page and Behringer haters have already found their way into a thread for a product they’ll never buy, despite having no direct experience with said product.

I made this thread because I’m interested in this new product, not to debate the ethics of the company itself. “Behringer=bad” is far from a new or hot take, and in fact this dead horse has been beaten so many times that it’s reaching “Which is the best bass for metal?” levels of cliché.
