New Billy Joel single - Does Not Suck!

Yeah - Billy got some enhancements both audio and visually, but he's still got considerable talent. He just played Madison Square Garden for the 100th time in the last few weeks.

I saw him and his band several times in the 70s and 80s and they were awesome. I'm happy to see that he's still making music

grew up w him on Long Island and he stumbled drunk into a gig we were doing In Oyster bay around 1980

Had big respect until he nuked his band that put him over top when his head grew to believe his press.

Now could care less, though he is talented not much of a human being IMO

It is a very good song. Worthy of his legacy. If he has 7 or 8 in this ballpark I would hope he puts an album out.

Sounds like a little studio magic to make his voice sound this good/young but that happens on any major release. I can forgive it and don't care. His live rendition at the Grammy's was very good but sounded more age appropriate.

The snare sound is horrible but I got over it.

Was in traffic on Long Island once, looked in the rear view, and it was Billy Joel behind me. Pulled over and made damn sure he was in front of me. Cant be too safe.

i wouldn't expect it to suck!! i'd be disappointed if it did!

what are you experts trying to deny here? give me a break! :roflmao:

the cat is a bonafide multi-talented, super-star, force-to-be-reckoned-with icon. :bassist:

like many, i like both videos, each for different reasons. but it's a great tune, and those are meaningful, professional, artistic performances/productions.

People keep talking about "AI" but I'm going to guess this is more about a fairly common "de-aging" process that has been used in movies for years. Yeah, the programs used might have some sort of AI functionality but this is just a visual effect and used to very good results in my opinion. I kinda wonder if they did a full motion-capture?

I thought it was one of the best performances at the Grammys! That, and seeing a thirty five year old song just own the show. IMHO and all that.:)
Saw him live only once, long ago (20+ years). The most amazing part of the show was watching the audience sing along... every song... in key! Normally this is something that would have annoyed me, but it was fascinating to watch.

His voice is sounding good, but I can’t cope with the autotune. It’s so gratuitous, it really grates with me. I’ve spent so many years listening to his albums, that hearing his voice with autotune is just a massive turn off. I can’t listen to it.
I usually associate autotune with pitch correction. I really don't think I heard that in the video. What I did hear was him sounding different with each age progression. Obviously some sort of processing tool was in use to make that happen, but I kinda doubt it was autotune.
