As many of you know, I have had a Bongo problem since the early part of the century. When this one came up in the classifieds here, I really had no choice.
This one started life as a Stealth model, thus the black hardware. Dude from Hobo Depot bought it in less-than-stellar shape and had this done to it. Then a TBer bought it and I guess didn't bond properly with it. It was in the classifieds for a brief moment because when I saw it, it was a no-brainer.
No idea what it looks like under the pickguard....which is painted as a part of the overall motif.
I had some work to do on it. I think it was set up for a SLAPPA and that ain't me. The pickups were raised far too high and the relief was so flat it was almost backbowed. There was a LOT of fret rattle. But I have little screwdrivers, so that was taken care of right off and it's now quite thumpy. I also yanked the rounds (who plays those?) and installed some Cobalt Flats. Those take a while to break in but are a far better fit for me already.
I'll probably have to off something (a 4 string of some sort) in order to stay solvent in these trying times, but totally worth it.
Jack
